MESSAGE OF DAY

The master Ibn ‘Arabi has said: “Whatever thought may occur to your mind regarding Allah, He is other than that.”

“Worldly concern is a darkness in the heart while consideration of the Hereafter is light.” ‘Uthman, may Allah be well pleased with him.

Mawlana Jalal al-Din al-Rumi, may Allah sanctify his secret, states: “My Master Shams, may Allah sanctify his secret, once taught me: ‘If even a single believer on earth feels cold, you do not have the right to get warm.’ And I know that there are believers on earth who are cold; I can no longer keep warm.”

People of service must run to the aid of each being and must approach even the wrongdoer with compassion. Hearts must be conquered by addressing them not with the “cold and venom-spitting tongue of snakes”, but with the tongue of mercy.

The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said: “A careless woman who caused the death of her cat by not feeding it will be punished in the Hellfire. On the contrary, a sinful woman, who gave water to a thirsty dog, is to be forgiven by Allah.”

The human being rises in spiritual rank in accordance with the worthiness of the one towards which  they feel love. In this sense, the love felt for one who is not worthy is a great loss.

The classical scholars of this sublime religion have also confessed that their knowledge was deeply limited. Imam Abu Yusuf was consulted on an issue by the Caliph Harun al-Rashid. Imam Abu Yusuf answered by saying, “I do not know.” The assistant to the Caliph said to Abu Yusuf: “You have a salary and you say you do not know.” In response, the great scholar Abu Yusuf said: “My salary is according to my knowledge. If it were according to my ignorance, the treasury of the state would not suffice.”

The life of this world is made up of three days: yesterday has gone with all that was done;  tomorrow, you may never reach; but today is for you so do what you should do today. Hasan Al-Basri

Each sincere act of service done for the sake of Allah Almighty and that is free of any kind of selfish gain, is in reality an projection of the search and longing for union with Him in one’s behaviour.

Everyone in the heavens and everyone in the earth ask forgiveness for a man of knowledge, even the fish in the water. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)

For a person to establish the truth and the true path they must keep their nafs under control at all times.

The acceptance of service depends on its being carried out solely for the sake of Allah Almighty and on its being performed in such a fashion as not to hurt the feelings of those served, but that on the contrary, honour them.

Serving one’s parents is by earning their pleasure without showing even the slightest complaint or impatience.
