MESSAGE OF DAY

Whenever Umar ibn Abdulaziz (may the mercy of Allah be upon him) was asked: “What do you love?” he would answer: “I love whatever is in my fate. I love the decree of Allah.”

With what face can an egotistical person concerned for their own self-interest who cannot display  the willpower to forgive Allah’s servants today, seek forgiveness in the presence of Allah tomorrow?

Fariduddîn Attâr remarked: “There are four things that cannot be reclaimed: a word that has left the mouth, an arrow that has left the bow, an accident that has already happened, and a life that has been spent in vain.” 

A person of high rank came to the Prophet to ask him to suspend the punishment of a thief . The Prophet (pbuh) answered him: “I would carry out that punishment even if the culprit were my daughter Fatimah.” (Bukhari, Anbiya’ 54; Muslim, Hudud 8, 9)

Being able to forgive injustices against one’s own person, virtually reducing them to nought, without  feeling even the slightest offence, is the magnum opus of spiritual maturity.

The hearts of those who have no love for others is like untreated soil. Achievement is in our affection for others, because the entire reason for existence is love.

Luqman the Wise says: “There are three things which can only be known by means of three conditions: Kindness in a state of anger; courage, on the battlefield, and fellowship, in time of need.”

Islam commands believers to be careful about protecting the rights of those who are not honored with the guidance of Islam.

“…a man should say to his soul every morning, “God has given thee twenty-four treasures; take heed lest thou lose anyone of them, for thou wilt not be able to endure the regret that will follow such loss.”  ― Abu Hamid al-Ghazali,

Thankfulness is of two kinds: 1) Acknowledgement of the Divine origin of all bounties and engaging in thankfulness by means of one’s words. 2) Expressing thankfulness through one’s actions by offering those bounties to those who are deprived of them.

The heart is to develop and reason is then to increase in rank in accordance with the heart.

Acts of worship are not obligations that are to be undertaken and completed, but must be deemed a debt of gratitude to be observed throughout one’s life and must be honoured constantly.

Allah Almighty gives to whomever He wills in abundance, and to whomever He wills in scarcity. But He holds everyone accountable to the extent of the bounties with which he provides them.

Touching upon several issues, The Prophet (pbuh) said, “There are three conditions of salvation: to act justly in times of anger as well as peace; to spend moderately not only in poverty but also in wealth; and to fear Allah both in private and public. (Haythami, I:90).

Patience is required in times of affluence and poverty, in the endeavour to earn rewards and in shunning sin, and until the last breath. For all of these are a Divine test and trial.

The life of the world is a limited bounty bestowed upon us so that we may earn eternal happiness. It offers neither a second chance, nor any possibility for amends.

“A person is with those they love.” (Buhari)

Whenever a believer sees the needy or the suffering, they must engage in self-interrogation saying, “I could well have been in their shoes, and they in mine.”

A believer must forget complaint even at the moment when all afflictions and tribulations strike with all their might. They must consider the good that will ultimately come to them when they are patient, and thus maintain their repose.

Some properties in our day are referred to as being ‘timeshare’, whereas when considered from the perspective of belief, all fleeting properties are in fact ‘timeshare’.

A person’s duty is to forget transience. Otherwise, their heart will turn into ruin with ambition.

A believer must be as merciful as the blowing breeze, as generous as the falling rain, must perpetually offer peace to their surroundings and must seek the approval of the Almighty.

The heedlessness of humanity – who deems thanks to one who offers them even a single glass of water a duty – to Allah, the True Owner of all bounties, is indeed a great disloyalty.

The heart of a person increasingly expands as they attain perfection in belief, and they become a site of mercy and centre of spiritual rehabilitation which embraces all creation.

A believer who aspires to attaining the good pleasure of their Lord must first be pleased with God’s determining for them.

One who gives the fleeting and earns the eternal is indeed the wise person. One who sells the Hereafter and falls for the world is heedless. And one who sells their Hereafter for the worldly life of another is a fool.

A believer who seeks the good pleasure of their Lord must first be pleased with His decree concerning their own self.

Time is a great fortune the value of which is not known appreciated.

“!Oh Allah! Te pido Tu Amor, el amor de los que Tú amas y los actos que llevan a Tu Amor. ¡Oh Allah! ¡Haz que Tu Amor me sea más querido que yo mismo, mi familia, mis posesiones, e incluso el agua fresca!” (Tirmidhi, Dawat, 72)

Whoever acts with what he knows, Allah will grant him knowledge of that which he did not know.

Time is precious in this world. Every minute is precious. Everyone comes to the world along with a Divine schedule of events.

People of service are held responsible in every place that their heart reaches.

The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) has said: “I am the result of the prayer of my father Ibrahîm, the good tidings of my brother Jesus, and the dream of my mother Amina.”  Ahmad, V, 262; Hakim, II, 453.

Your journey is towards your homeland. Remember you are travelling from the world of appearanced to the world of Reality. Abd’ul Khaliq Gujduwani

Through prayer and the struggle against the nafs, one needs to show constant perseverance.

The cautions and advices of the righteous are reflections from the climes of the Quran and the words of the Prophet.

Go to the graveyard. Sit there for a while in silence. Listen to the voices of the mute! Rumi

“It is easier to stop sinning than to continue repenting.”  `Umar (r.a)

Sagacious human beings who are among the select are humble, like the trees bearing fruits that have ripened bowing their heads.

“Try to do all good deeds before death reaches you.” `Uthman (r.a)

“Paradise is for the generous, while Hell is for the ignorant.” Ali (r.a)

Rumī (q.s) advises in this regard that: “Do not sell mirrors in the bazaar of the blind; and do not recite gazelles in the bazaar of the deaf.”

An educator should first adorn his own life with the goodness that he advises to others and should try to become a living example.

From the time of our birth until we die we continue along the road without realizing it. With every moment in time we draw that much closer to our end.

Whatever you give in the way of Allah is your true property. For the rest, you shall be called into account. Fariduddin Attar (q.s)

Asma (r.ha) narrates: “I saw a bedouin  who was hundred and twenty years old. I asked him what the reason was for such a long life. He said ‘Thank God I renounced envy.”

Smile is a means of spiritual connection between people. This is why there is no other method of showing people the straight path of Islam better and effective than a smiling face.

If we want perfect children, let us first attempt to be perfect parents.

Humility leads to love and contentment leads to comfort and peace of mind.

Sheikh Sādī says that: “Intelligent people take their possessions and money with them while they are going to the other world. (In other words they give in charity for the sake f Allah) But the stingy ones leave their wealth in this world with feeling of craving for it.”

An educator should educate his student with spirituality. He should arouse his student’s interest, not just towards worldly sciences, but also towards religious learning, spirituality and wisdom.

“There is no prayer that is accepted faster than the prayer a Muslim makes for another Muslim in his absence” (Tirmidhi, Birr,)

Servitude begins with knowing one’s place. When a person properly recognizes one’s place, no strength is left in him to claim arrogance, egoism and even his own existence

The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: “O my Lord! I glorify you and declare that you are beyond any imperfection. We can not know you the way you deserve to be known!”

“Either speak good or remain silent.”(See Bukhari, Adab, 31, 85; Muslim, Iman, 74)

The real task is for our heart to learn a language of the Qur’an.

For believers attaining spiritual maturity, the nights are an especial treasure by virtue of the repose and Divine grace they hold within.
