MESSAGE OF DAY

Mawlana Jalal al-Din al-Rumi states: “If you tremble like grass with every wind, you would not be worth even a single blade of grass, though you may be as grand as the mountains.”

The path of Allah passes not through the act of devastating hearts but through reviving and elevating them.

Those desiring to overflow with celestial exuberance are those who effuse scents of forgiveness from the gardens of their hearts. For it is through forgiving that we can prepare the grounds for our own forgiveness. A person who cannot forgive has, in reality, destroyed himself.

The single, unique spring of mercy and love leading a servant to the ocean of love for Allah is the Messenger of Allah, upon him be peace and blessings.

“The similitude of one who remembers Allah and invokes His Names and one who does not remember Him and invoke His Names is like the living and the dead.” (Bukhari, Da’awat, 66)

How can the manifest Sun of Guidance be concealed! For Allah has loved him and has sent him as a mercy to all the worlds!

The elevated degree of tranquillity to be attained in this world and the spiritual station in the Hereafter is commensurate with the degree hearts attain in love of Allah’s Messenger.

‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Abbas, may Allah be well pleased with him, states: “Love for the sake of Allah and renounce for the sake of Allah, and know that it is in this way that the approval and good pleasure of Allah is attained. How sad it is that people in our day have become so worldly, that their love and aversion is purely for the sake of (acquiring) worldly gain.”

“Whoever loves for the sake of Allah and hates for the sake of Allah, gives for the sake of Allah and withholds for the sake of Allah, will have perfected their faith.” (Tirmidhi, Sifat al-Qiyama, 60)

As indicated in a Prophetic Tradition: “That most repugnant of all the false deities worshipped on earth in the eyes of Allah are the vain desires and fancies followed (by human beings).” (Haythami, I:188)

Our aim ought to be leading our lives in accordance with the guidance of Allah’s Messenger, upon him be peace and blessings. For all paths other than his path are no through roads.

The Qur’an is the strongest rope, with one end in the hand of Allah and the other extended out to us. The path of nearness to Allah is to hold firmly to it.

The servant can experience the delight of Divine love and friendship to the extent of their being able to overcome worldly and carnal ambitions.
